Filing for a place on the ballot

If you are running for public office in Texas, the office you are seeking will dictate the jurisdiction (political entity) where you must go to file for a place on the ballot:  

 

  • Individuals who want to run for a Federal, State or County office representing one of the two major political parties must file for a place on the ballot at the headquarters of their preferred party:

  • Individuals who want to run for a County office as Independent candidates must file for a place on the ballot with the Harris County Judge:
